We wandered around the ship, checking out the different activities offered. There was a cooking class underway at the Culinary Center. Spots can be reserved online once you have booked your cruise. Space goes quick, according to reports on Cruise Critic; by the time I checked on the website, many of the local cuisine classes were sold out.

We made our way to the sports deck to try out the facilities. All equipment was available in storage boxes nearby. There wasn't anyone else around, perhaps due to the wind.

Afternoon tea was served in Horizons from 4-5pm. We got there around 4:20pm and it was crowded. We were able to find an empty table off to the side, and after a few minutes, someone came to set it. Servers rolled multi-tiered trolleys around the room, stacked with savory and sweet selections. If you didn't want to wait, there was a small buffet set up at the front of the lounge with serving attendants. For the best experience, I suggest arriving before 4pm to get a table closer to the center of the room or to the buffet. The trolleys rarely came by our table due to its location.

The captain hosted a two-hour cocktail reception in the evening. Anything on the bar menu was complimentary, except for fancy scotch and cognacs. Best to specify the brand of alcohol you want in your cocktail, else the bar may use a lesser variety.

Tonight, we had dinner in the Grand Dining Room; lobster was served! We couldn't decide on desserts, so we got them all.

The next morning, Oceania Riviera arrived in Copenhagen. Kaleb and I were planning to walk around town. The weather started off a bit drizzly, but it cleared up as the day unfolded.

In the morning, we made our way on foot from the Langelinie dock to Rosenborg Castle and the King's Garden.

We found a cafe inside the King's Garden and had a coffee break.

Rosenborg Castle was surrounded by well-manicured gardens. We didn't have any time to go inside.

We went to the entrance of the University of Copenhagen Geological Museum, where a piece of the Agpalilik meteorite is on display for all to see and touch.


Kaleb and I then headed towards Nyhavn, an iconic waterfront with colorful buildings dating from the 17th century. It was a popular place to gather. There were plenty of outside dining opportunities. Canal tours also started here.


Nearby was the pedestrian-only shopping street Stroget. We had fun browsing the flagship Lego store.

We then went to Tivoli Gardens, the second oldest amusement park in the world, inspiring the creation of Disneyland. Admission is required to go inside, but not required to enter the Tivoli Food Hall, which was my objective. Hallernes Smorrebrod was highly rated, serving Scandinavian open-faced sandwiches. It was the only shop in the hall that had a line in the middle of the afternoon. Empty trays would be quickly refilled so favorites wouldn't be sold out.

After our smorrebrod snack, Kaleb and I visited the National Museum of Denmark. With only an hour and a half before closing, we rushed through all the exhibits, making sure to see the Sun Chariot, a Danish national treasure.


We had a nice walk back to Langelinie pier.

Still full from smorrebrod, we chose a light dinner in the buffet.
